Jessi's Styles
I enjoy drawing in many different styles. And love many more than I can draw. Here is a brief description of the drawing styles that you will find in my portfolio.
Realism
I have always enjoyed realism but I am a long way from mastering it. I love how some drawings and paintings have more detail than a photograph. Although I may not be at that level yet, I am currently studying the geometric shapes that form all objects on earth. I have been practicing still life and landscapes in traditional mediums. I am currently using charcoal and graphite pencils to do most of my realism. I hope to eventually do people in realism, but alas, I must practice much more before I can achieve that.
Western Comic Style
I am still developing my western comic style. I need to make it my own and not just what I look at. This is still in progress, but I will post my sketches in this style as I make them. They are, for the most part sketches and I will work on polishing them after I train my hand to draw this style with aplomb.
"Manga" Style
This is the style that I have worked on the hardest and changed the most. I have experimented a lot with Manga, because I think the style is so beautiful and elegant. I believe that if one wants to draw this style, one must do it in a way that fits their hand. So many American manga artists make manga look really cheap and bad. No offence, of course, but one cannot take mangas stereotypes and rush them into an unfulfilling work. I believe you must take your favorite parts of the style and mold them to fit your hand. If you do it any other way the work looks like its rushed, uncreative, copied and watered down. Drawing and art are disciplines. Even if it is "just manga". So I, of coarse, apply this to my work within this style. My drawings may not have all of the stereotypes applied to them, but I believe you will still find them enjoyable.
Music Time!
